New Paintings

David Quinn

30 November 2007 - 05 January 2008

Nothing evil was lost,
Nothing good was in vain,
all ablaze with clear light
But there has to be more.

Life gathered me up
Safe under its wing,
My luck always held,
But there has to be more.

Not a leaf was burnt up
Not a twig ever snapped...
Clean as glass is the day,
But there has to be more.

Kevin Kavanagh is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by David Quinn.

David Quinn's latest paintings blur the boundaries between the deeply personal interior landscape and the visible world. The use of the circular format contributes to a tight meditative focus on those specific details which have been preserved in the hewing process of simplification - a hair-slide, a low-lit mountain, an arched doorway.

Architectural and figurative elements developed and coloured through memory, present an intimate world of questionable grandeur and dignity.

David Quinn was born in Sligo in 1970. He graduated from the National College of Art & Design, Dublin in 1991. He lives and works in Mayo. In 2007 Quinn was a recipient of the Golden Fleece Merit Award.
