Kevin Kavanagh Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings by Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh entitled Deoraíocht (Exile).

This exhibition is inspired by an encounter with the writings of Pádraic Ó Conaire, in particular his book of short stories Scothscéalta. Deoraíocht emerges from this encounter with these characters and stories. In these paintings a human presence is suggested but always absent, we encounter a no-mans land, an apparently empty and yet intensely emotional space.


Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh graduated with a BA Fine Art, Painting at the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2001. Deoraíocht is part of her practice–based MPhil research programme which she recently completed at DIT.
